  • Favorite notetaking tool – digital or otherwise?

So… after a long hiatus I recently moved back to Evernote for most of my notetaking. I’ve been surprised by how much they’ve improved and innovated the product and how easy it is to get things INTO Evernote. (It’s not always so easy to get things out.) But, in their re-build they also removed support for some of the core automations I used to rely on. I also use DevonThink for my research, but it’s a bit cumbersome for daily notes, etc. And, I use Day One to journal.

    I’m curious – what’s your favorite notetaking app/tool?

I’m a bit old school but I have a bullet journal but I do use Apple Notes to capture articles I want to share or read later.

I find the same. I use a Leuchtturm 1917 for daily tracking / bullet journal style, but I capture ideas and notes in Evernote these days because it’s so much easier to track them. I just finished Tiago Forte’s Building A Second Brain, which is a fantastic analysis of how to keep better notes and ideas organized.

Thanks, Todd! I need to check that out, it sounds intriguing. My biggest challenge is definitely organizing my notes once I take them. The bullet journal has helped a lot in that regard. If it’s electronic for me it just gets lost in the ether somewhere. I’ll have to check out EverNote again. It’s been many many moons since I looked at that app.

I prefer paper notebooks and pencils any chance I get. Usually I used these for first drafts of things–notes, poems, articles–and then type them up.
